Raymarine G190

By Ben Ellison

A Lauderdale line that rings true: "19-inch is the new 15-inch." We want bigger displays, and bezels are getting thin enough that we can have bigger in almost the same helm space. Raymarine's elegant G190 monitor is a good example, featuring nine video inputs with direct-access keys and flexible PiP (picture-in-picture) ability. Its front side is waterproof and, perhaps most important, is said to be as bright in direct sun as an E-Series, and brighter than the competition. If the $11,995 price tag gives you pause, there's also an $8,995 G170. Another sign that Raymarine, like Simrad, really wants to get aboard big yachts: the 24-inch (60-cm) 60STV satellite-television antenna system purported to offer the best acquisition times and range in its class.
